Established clothing brands can only maintain their retail outlets and make larger profits by making their products cheaply overseas. So what we end up with is a world of disposable clothes. Not cool, thought the founder of American Giant. He still possessed a sweatshirt worn by his father. All cotton. Well-made. Stylish. And enduring. Which begged the question: what the hell happened to this country? Have we lost our minds? We used to make great stuff. Not because it was cheaper but because it was better. And so American Giant was born. Steeped in the belief that while they make super soft, all cotton, American sportswear, the last thing they want is for you to be relaxed, sedate or comfortable.
